OCE 4
Yesterday I went to an opera performed at a local school. This was an entertaining performance from the singers on stage in their outfits and the song selections were in Italian, as operas tend to be, which included two of the scores composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and what great performances they were.
It was really impressive on how one of the female singers was able to maintain a conversation while singing and reaching with those falsettos and the really high lingering "ahhhh" portions of the music with a vibrato. As a musician, I appreciated the performance from the pianist and her timing with the singers on stage. Each note was rather comedic and combined elegance as the cast did their best to tell a story whilst speaking and singing in Italian. Truly, a culturally impressive performance and I would have thought the singers were Italian if not for the fact that some were Irish-American, African-American, and one of them was a Filipina-American. The Filipina singer was amusing with her fake mustache for the story and even swapped voices to show that she is in disguise! I am truly amazed.
