Samuel Kim
300 Words
In this story I would like to share the origin of music and how it has impacted humanity ever since. From the primitive days of mankind, music has become the keystone of every culture in existence. Dating as far as 43,000 years ago, archaeologists have found that there were instruments like flutes made from bone and ivory. If flutes were made back then, then before instruments were songs from the voices of primitive men and women, who knows what the songs these people of the past have sang. There have been many civilizations that started and ended but music can be recovered. From the Ancient Chinese dynasties to countries like Egypt, India, and Mesopotamia, music had still been prevalent, inspiring other countries and civilizations to have music. Religion plays a good part in music, with Buddhism having chants that are still sung to this day as well as Hebrew songs and Gregorian chants. Christianity grew as a religion, Europe was forever changed and classical music would be born. Music became appreciated as a form of art as societies advanced. African music would be brought to the Americas as slaves were shipped to plantations to work. From the suffering of slaves, there would be songs and chants that would evolve to be Blues music. When society and technology improved in America, slavery was abolished and African-Americans would produce music that mixes Blues and create Jazz. From jazz came swing, big band, as well as more blues and even rock music. Rap would be born from jazz and blues with fast and poetic matching to the beat, which became popular music, making it pop music. Cultural songs have led to the creation of classical music, blues music, rock music, rap music, and pop music that we all know and love today.
Music has been around for as long as mankind has existed, dating as far back as 43,000 years ago from primitive bone and ivory flutes and has become an integral part of human society ever since.
