I recently went to an event in Baltimore for a South-Asian festival that had food and festivities. It was a rather tasty experience, trying at least 6 dishes that had chicken and fish but I could not remember the names. I was too full to provide many pictures but the event was exciting and piqued my senses in smell, taste, touch, and even sound when I heard the people rushing to try things. I could have tried to document more for this event but I was so overwhelmed and this was just a lot to absorb!    Some of the foods looked like this, with a variety of rice dishes, protein, and sauces that were quite a sensational experience.

Home is a term that is very endearing to us humans. It provides us our identity and our upbringing as well as being a place of residency. A home is a place to give comfort, safety, and happiness to one or multiple people. Those that grow up in homes can meet other people who also live in homes, those of which are called "neighbors". A collection of these homes with neighbors become a neighborhood and I would venture often to neighborhood to neighborhood. You can make friends and learn from others, have bonds and have the first sleepover. Neighbors can trust one another or not, it depends. The feelings of missing home exist when far from the home for a certain amount of time ranging from immediately leaving the house to traveling to a different country. Homesickness is a condition that exists as a result of the lack of comfort in a current location and the longing to be back at a comforting environment hits the mind and heart of the homesick. To quote a person named C...

In the podcast of the 19 Minutes, it had shared to the audience what the point of the podcast was and why. Lewis Wallace provides the explanation for what the goal was, where Wallace attempted to share an outlet for news that wouldn't have been shared by the big name agencies, a common issue in the world. Wallace mentions that this movement originates from criticisms on the how these agencies purposely choose to cover the social and political news.

Blog 2: The Media And The News Around It

In the latest installment of Sam's Samples, my relationship with the news is rather negative since I do not feel as if I can trust much of what I am told or read. Because of this, I go around to numerous sources and outlets to compare and contrast the news that is mentioned, from Twitter, Reddit, to my own father, as he is the one to announce the news to our family. I understand that me being skeptical and negative on news is not a good mindset, that itself is a problem and I hope to change my mindset on how I view the news. However, there are benefits for me being a skeptic, like the time in early 2022 when the war in Ukraine had escalated in the city of Kyiv. In this particular news that I had heard, there was a particular phenomenon happening in the city skies, where a video went viral of a Ukrainian pilot who had shot down numerous Russian jets and had also been killed. There was a massive supportive idolization for this pilot, dubbed the Ghost of Kyiv, and b...

Introductory Post Hello! I am Samuel "Sam" Kim, a senior at UMBC studying in Psychology as well as a minor in Entrepreneurship. My interests and hobbies include listening to music as well as playing music (The alto saxophone shown below is the instrument I play). I also workout, do amateur sketches, watch movies and shows, I sing and do some dance and enjoy playing video games. One of my hobbies I am recently into is collecting vinyl records, as a musician and avid enthusiast of music. Most of my interests pertain to fiction, from creating fictional stories, ideas, brainstorming inventions, or even melodies or piecing together how one idea is related to another. It intrigues me how so much of the world's phenomena and ideas tie in to each other. In a more professional topic, my goals and aspirations are to graduate with my degrees and then go to graduate school in order to obtain a masters in Psychology. Once I do, I would be able to get into obtaining experience and wor...
